Something to consider as a temporary insurance cover against accidents is the interim accident insurance. An employee who enjoys compulsory insurance against non-occupational accidents may extend the non-occupational insurance by special agreement with his previous work-/non work accidents insurance (e.g. SUVA) for a maximum of six consecutive months beyond the end of compulsory insurance.
In this way, you can avoid any risk of gaps in your insurance contributions. The premium – currently 45 Swiss francs a month if you are with SUVA (1/8/2014) – must be paid no later than the 30th day after which entitlement to at least half the salary ceases. Preprinted paying-in slips are available from every agency of SUVA. Specially agreed insurance extends the same benefits as compulsory non-occupational accident insurance.
